Combat confusion

I can normally fight and kill local boars without much problem. I will walk away with a couple of points in Knicks and knack, scrapes and cuts, and a couple points knocked off my leather armor clothes. So I decided to try and tame a couple of boars for some pigs.

The first one tamed just fine. The second one totally wiped the floor with me. Aurochs and horses never thrashed me like this boar did. He knocked me out, and destroyed all my armor.

I used my normal combat moves so I'm at a lost as to what may have happened..

Use a horse to tame animals.

if you tamed one right after maybe your openings were already high

You can run faster than boar (especially with horse). If you aren't using this to your advantage you're a major skrub

Possibly your armor was already damaged and you didnt managed to lower your openings enough. This leads to take damage and probably your armor got destroyed, after that you took all the damage directly and got koed.
As abt sayd you must use the advantadge of running faster than the boar at 3rd speed to reset the cooldowns and lower your openings. I think that you wont get damage if your openings are below 30.
If you are using amber pick the "simple combat" option so you will see colors instead of that mess of words with ultrasmall icons.

Who uses a horse to tame? And how does that help?
I use a horse once in a while to chase land ducks though
