I have one question. Is it possible to tame animals from boat? I wanted to tame 2 animals this way and i killed it. My friend tried to tame it without using a boat and this way that's work. Should I do this without the boat or it does not matter?

It might be possible but its difficult. Devs have some counter measure against "not fair" taming methods.

i used small boulders/stones at a palisade gate to tame a horse. that's more cheesing than a boat imo
if you place boulders at one per tile such as left click and set, the animal can't go through while you can (smaaall area, easily done with a custom client and grid turned on. just walk across the white line, practice it some before use)

this kind of cheesing can be done with diagonal mining walls, cliffs, and with some finagling, palisades. just small boulders is portable and easy

make sure you 'peace' the animal and try to learn the hp set the animal has, sheep wimp out at around 100-110 hp damage. horses was around 250-300

Old post but I've figured out a way to allow for cheesing; the system they implemented to detect whether or not you're cheesing the taming session gets bypassed if you have a second person aggro the animal and have it target them. You can then boat cheese or sit behind a pali as long as you like and get the taming done with minimal stats!

i tamed a horse with 3 boulders and a palisade. maybe they changed it in the past 2months
