Claiming/Conquering a village

It is my understanding that towns that have no lawspeaker can be claimed by simple right clicking the village claim and become lawspeaker.

Is this the same for towns with no authority and still have a lawspeaker or does the current lawspeaker need to leave the town before you can claim it yourself?

If the second is the case that even a town with no authority but still has a lawspeaker, I can only assume the easiest thing todo would be to destroy and replace the village claim.

is this correct or is there an easier/simpler way?

If you by village claim mean the idol then yes. If you mean random anywhere on claimed area to become lawspeaker then no.

Authority has no influence on who is lawspeaker. That person has to resign or die before another person can become lawspeaker at the idol.

Depending on how far you are in the game and whether you have plots still secured I would probably rebuild idol if I were you. Especially if current lawspeaker is inreachable/not on your side anymore its pretty bad if that person remains in control.

Thanks for the reply, already removed the old idol.

Made some nice friends locally and our group is settling in well. Lots of nice changes have been made since i last played (world 6/7)

Just trying to bring back old memories and relearn the game.
