Can u kill animals through palisade?

Like can u kill domestic animals, tamed cows on someone's claim? For example by catapulting? Or it is safe to keep them near brickwall?

animals cant be hurt with catapults

i was pretty sure animals could be hurt by catapults just as players can be. but domestic animals have to be knocked out 3 times to die, 12hours unconscious
