Uses for extra wood?

I've got a tree farm up and running, but I only end up using the higher q wood it produces. The rest of the logs are quickly filling up my base and are beginning to get in the way of things. Is there anything I can do with these extra logs or should I dump them outside my base?

Get a good (high) ql axe, split blocks and use the high ql sticks as fuel in ovens, kilns and crucibles. Use blocks and boards in curios. Otherwise anything that's low ql and you don't want to use, use in construction or making fires.

You could make tar/coal is you need it. I don't know if quality of tar actually matters though.

if you have animals (esp sheep) you can use it to make racks and trays for cheese production, 30 racks and 90 trays takes a lot of wood

you can inspect trees and cut them down early on but only if you have many trees, you may have the good q trees stunt and never keep it up. unless you use fruit trees like mulberry or something for the good q wood

i'm using my extra wood for cabinets and infrastructure but after that... maybe fuel for cooking or charcoal

Yeah as well as raising amount of uses you get from a matchbox.
