From what I understood it adds to the mu value, ranging from 1 to 1.5 , so it would add damage. but I'm really not sure if that's how it works,
since I've looked for an answer before but couldn't find it, so would love an answer to this aswell.

The μ value in the screenshot only affects the attack weight, not damage. Other than that you are correct, it generally increases the weight of your attacks and defenses, and cooldowns of manouvers, ie. dash, take aim, etc.

1/5 -> μ = 1
punch opens 1 * 0.8 = 0.8

5/5 -> μ = 1.5
punch opens 1.5 * 0.8 = 1.2

i think Defence Move is many reduce Attack Weight

"Attack weight up" means you hit with more skill than you have.

Skills vary in how the mu affects them. Check the information. Some reduce cooldown, others weight, some have other effects.
