[ANSWERED] Duck Hunt?

How do I take ducks? I know Swans I can get to fight me (much like IRL) but ducks fly away (also like IRL).

I have this plastic gun with a REALLY noisy trigger, but it doesn't get me very far and that damned dog keeps popping up to laugh at me...

1) If you have a friend, you can easily catch them by having one go on either side of it, and then having one chase the duck, and the other just collects it.
2) If you find them on shallows near land, you can chase them with a horse onto land, and the horse should be fast enough to catch them.
3) You could chase them on land, then shoot them with a bow when they nest.

and my personal favorite...
4) A knarr's hitbox is actually bigger than the duck's flee range - meaning you can try to catch them while on a knarr without them even running. From my tests, this has about a 1/4 success rate, with the other 3/4 getting run over and dropping in the water.

(Secret method 5) You can run a ton of them over with a knarr, causing them to go into the water. Then collect every beach trash you see to try and get your ducks back

Use Knarr and custom client with hot key for forage/pick (Q key at Amber).
Fast press Q until you catch your duck (like, Q Q Q Q Q... catch). Try to position your knarr at one line with duck's move direction. I found thet they drown usually when knarr's and duck's move vectors is crossing, not parallel.
My success rate is about 75-80%.

Re 3) Why bow, specifically? Is a sling's damage so bad it won't drop them in one hit? (I last played during World 7, where slings were where it was at. Are bows cheaper now?)

4) Knarrs are very expensive, but what's the procedure here? Just right click on them like chasing a squirrel?

5) I already grab beach salvage and have lots of good stuff from that..... but no discover. >.<

3) I just meant a ranged weapon in general - bow, spear, or sling.

4) That's right. My method would just be to click on it. That only has a 1 in 4 success rate for me though. The method mentioned above allegedly has much better returns, and I'll have to test it out myself later on.
