[ANSWERED] High-Q item penalties?

Postby qoonpooka » Thu Apr 20, 2017 9:20 pm

ISTR that as you made higher quality things, their penalties lessened, not worsened? Has this changed? (My last world was 7.)

I made a q36 nettle shirt on a whim, mostly so that I could experiment with recycling.

My Q16 gives me Agility -1. This Q36 gives Agility -2. This makes a certain amount of sense, after all the Quality is nearly at the 2x effect threshold, but why should a 'better' shirt be worse to wear?

Is this consistent throughout the game now? Does high quality plate armor whack like 20-50 AGI off you?

I'm guessing the optimum strategy is to target a quality 1 below the increase in penalty in order to maximize the value of gilding?

Nettle shirt has always gotten worse AGI penalty the higher Q they are. Same is true for armor.

Quality also gives it more benefits, for armor you get more deflection/absorb/wear. However, nettle no longer has a bonus quality. The quality of a nettle shirt is still useful because it soft caps any guildings attached, so attaching a Q19 leather patch to a Q10 would actually drag it down to the +4/+4 range instead of +5/+5.
