How does one start with farming?

Postby Hoblit » Sat Apr 29, 2017 12:59 pm

Hello!

I'm a rather new players, only been playing for a few days. I was wondering how you actually start farming, I have a plowed field set up and I read something about a wild weed you'd need to gather before starting or something alike.

Apparently you need a bit higher 'Exploration' than I have and I can't afford, this is apparently needed to see the weed.

So I was wondering, is there any way to get seeds that produce straw and stuff alike?

Sometimes you can find abandonned farms and camps with some crops in them. They're your only other option.

Just get more LP to afford higher exploration. Build a study desk and keep it full of cone cows, bark boats and dandelions. You should get there in no time.

Got myself a study desk now, how do I actually use it, do I just leave my dandelions in it and wait?

Pro tip: When you're going on a cone cow run, collect ONLY cones. When your inventory and 2 crates in your boat are full with cones, teleport back, then split blocks of wood with a stone axe to get enough branches to turn them all into cone cows.

ALWAYS keep your study table full of them, and while your study table is full of all those small attention fast curios with relatively high LP/hour, then constantly do quests. You'll get a shitload of stats in no time. In the meantime keep your crops cycling (harvest them whenever they're ready and replant highest quality), and try eating only good foods, not trash from trees etc. (good food = prepared food. Frog legs, fish wraps, etc.)

Build a palisade as soon as possible to be kinda immune to raiders (nobody will bother), make sure the whole palisade is claimed, and after you did all of this, you're pretty much set to do whatever you want.

Two liftables can be put in a boat. You can even carry the boat on your head while it's loaded (though you're HELLA slow when you do, you can port home that way though). To get them back out you right-click the visual 'grey dufflebag' in the bow and stern of the boat.
