Loading a cart onto a knarr, possible?

Postby outdatedleon » Wed May 03, 2017 6:02 am

Hi, I'm not sure if this has been asked before... I couldn't really find the answer anywhere - either I suck at googling or I simply am blind to something really obvious staring right at me... but I am wondering if it is possible for us to load a cart onto a knarr?

I plan to build a knarr, so that one day if I were to move my base I could travel long distances via water, and I do not know what can be loaded onto it. Can I load a cart? Can I put my livestocks onto the huge floating beast? Can my horse join me sailing away too?

Thank you for your kind answers, and may Odin grant your way to Valhalla.

My read of the wikipage: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Knarr

Says 64 liftables + 10x10 inventory.

Animals aren't liftable while they're alive, and carts aren't liftable, but anything you could store in a cart you can store in the Knarr (64 such things, so anything you could store in 16 carts, I should say). The only thing that can move livestock across water that I know of is the raft and I haven't verified that myself, but the raft /can/ move a cart (VERY SLOWLY) and unpacks into two liftables that the cart can haul. For a mobile base with animals you might want to look into the wagon: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Wagon

The wagon holds 20 liftables, is driven by a single cow/bull or horse, and also has an inventory. The Wagon can also fit on a raft, at least it used to be able to, so you can cross rivers that way. The process is slow, and often annoying, but it work(ed/s):

1) 2 of those 20 liftables are your raft.
2) Unpack raft sections and build raft at water.
3) Load animal, cross, unload.
4) Cross, load wagon, cross, unload.
5) Go run down animal that has wandered off nearby.
6) Hitch animal back up.
7) Break down raft
8) Load raft into wagon
9) Carry on until you find water again, then return to #2.

I suppose that means if I were to move with my animals, it's gonna be wagon then... Ohh boy... the entire thing sounds like a lot of work.

Thanks for the reply.

u can teleport with leashed animals to HearthFire.
so
1 just build new place
2 put hf into new animal place (good at tower basement ¦] )
3 leash (rope) all your animals (u ll need alot ropes)
4 tp to hf

That's...something I've never thought of... very great idea.

Thanks for the innovative suggestion, man.

Be a bit careful with the 'tower basement' part, the animals could block your movemnt...

Just drop rope so they start moving again.

If actually that many animals that they can't move and entire cellar is full then it's a different story ghehe

For those who don't know, inspecting them will also break the leash (you keep the rope though).

So pretty much so far from the replies.. could I conclude that the carts that I built were pretty much useless?
I mean, they can't be teleported to our hearthfire with us, can't be lifted, can't be loaded onto knarrs... Should've saved my resources to make a wagon instead :?

Very useful for boat storage.
