How do i get String?

I am kind of stuck in the game. I cannot do anything, farming (for hemp or flax to get string), mining ( i need rope), and basically anything because I do not have any string. I have looked everywhere in the forum and wiki, and i cannot find an explanation. I can't do silk farming because I can't make the herbalists table, and i don't even know how to get spindly taproot. Since i cannot farm, I can't use straw, and can't use hide strap since I can't do tanning without rope. Someone please help me, I don't know what to do.

"String" Is a category of item that includes advanced stuff like silk, hemp, and flax, but also foraged stuff:

Stinging Nettle and Spindly Taproots are both string and VERY common. Go to a forest biome and you'll start seeing them. Their quality is capped by your Survival.

For reference, I set up near a nice little spot that regularly spawns Q58 Nettles which is a real boon if you're just starting out and don't want to go to market.

Spindly Taproots are also useful for survival-boosting gear that attaches very nicely to nettle clothing.

After spindly taproots and stinging nettles, the next source of string is hide straps, but you need to have set up a drying frame first, as the hides need to be dried. Squirrel hide and tail can both be turned into two string a piece this way.

How exactly do i get the taproots or nettles? I have seen plenty of root-like things:

But I don't know if that is it. For some reason, my perception has dropped, and i cannot get enough lp to increase my exploration.
Please explain how to get these. Sorry im such a noob, I don't understand a lot about the game

well go find curio (pick apples sometime get curio, pick flowers, and stuff) and raise explore then will be able to see and pick (cant pick till explore high enough) taproot and nettles

If you've been seeing clovers and the like then you should be seeing taproots and nettles, they only appear in forests.

Your perc*explo is lower cause probably you are wounded.
Craft some cone cow, and try to study more curio you can.
