Initially, village totems claim an area of 103x103, but is that area further expandable, much like a personal claim?

You have to use village banners instead of regular pclaim expansion

Expands Village Claim at a range of 30 tiles in a square shape making a 61x61 claim around it. Each banner adds 5000 to the maximum Authority and drains 250 authority per in-game day.

Banners can also expand village claims into cave layers below, as long as they're directly underneath village territory.
