Fox broke through wooden fence?

So I decided to hunt a fox today. I found one hanging around my fenced-in base, and shot at it with a sling. According to the wiki, it shouldn't be able to break fences, which is why I specifically chose a fox.

Well, something went horribly wrong. It took about half a second for it to tear through the stupid fence and 5 seconds to KO me from full health.

Is the wiki wrong? Maybe this was some super fox, like how occasionally I come across super ants that go faster than run speed. This thing did seem particularly strong I suppose, I hit it with 8 or 9 good 20 damage sling shots later after following it to a cliff that I could cheese it with, and it didn't even run away at all during that time.

(I'm really pissed too because I ran out of rocks, and before I could run back it de-aggroed on me, saw a bunny, and ran off into nowhere and I didn't even get the damn thing after that entire ordeal!)

They've changed what animals can break a couple times. It wouldn't surprise me if the wiki is out of date or you were looking at the legacy page accidentally.

You could hunt from a boat to the same effect, just don't try it on walruses.

Alright, I guess I'll just cheese with a boat like everybody else then :/

I'm still pretty miffed that the fence trick didn't work, especially when the wiki takes great pains to explain that foxes cannot destroy roundpole fences...

Cheese it with a gate, cheese it with a boat, meh. Cheese all around.

These day melee hunting is so easy though not many do ranged anymore.
