(LEGACY) Strange function

Postby linkfanpc » Tue May 30, 2017 9:24 pm

Clicking Ctrl+L on Legacy brings up a weird claiming UI, and when used, it says "this function has been deprecated."

Oooh! Is this some weird, old claiming feature that no longer works? How intriguing! The wiki says you can also do it in Hafen, but that proves to be incorrect. Unless i'm missing something? The wiki also says there's an "architecture" UI feature in legacy accessed using ctrl+A, but i couldn't get it to work.
Total misplay.

Yeah, it was a means for claiming a section of land really, really early. Best use by the time I started playing was to measure out a section of land to see how much space it was or distances.

Not recalling ever using Ctrl+A for anything, so maybe someone that was here for w1 or w2 might provide some insight.

I don't know how about loftars default Legacy client, but in my personal client based on romovs Anemone client CTRL+L still works as measurement tool ...

CTRL+A once was to open the Objects Build Menue AFAIK - but lately it was mostly used for Auto Drinker on/off scripts in custom clients - in haven today i think it opens the map where you can see local resources

Yes, but it had long been deprecated even before world 1. It actually worked such that you could simply claim land just by selecting it, and you even got LP for doing so. Let's just say that its deficiencies became clear just by letting RL friends try the game. :)

As for Ctrl+A, I can't actually quite understand how that's even public knowledge. I'm pretty sure that feature had come and gone without any traces long before world 1.

The more I think about it, the less I'm sure it even existed. We experimented a bit with building walls instead of having houses, but when I try to remember it, I think the walls were placed via a god-only flower menu, not with some Architecture window. So I'm not even sure.

Huh. Interesting. Thanks for clearing that up though! :)

EDIT: I remember browsing old bug reports and someone found that window by accident, so it did exist.
