Personal Claim beneath Village Claim?

Postby Jackwolf » Tue Jun 06, 2017 8:10 pm

So I've recently found a village that's fallen into decay. After a bit of poking and prodding I've come to find out that it's out of authority. There's an open spot with housing that's well defended that I was hoping to move in to, but can't seem to place a claim down nor extend one onto the village's claim, even though it's out of authority...

Do I have any options available here?

If the village had no authority then you should be able to place a personal claim there unless there is already a personal claim beneath the village claim - turn off village claims on your map to be able to see it better. Otherwise it might be that the village claim only appears to be without authority because it has some white permissions on it, in any event if you are going to move into it you would want to destroy the village idol which you should be able to do if it has lost authority (otherwise the village owner could log back in and revoke the privilage of your p claim) so why not try doing that?

My understanding is that claims still can't overlap. Since you're not a part of the village (yet), you can't drop a claim there, authority or not. This is one of those areas of the games black skills and criminal acts does not cover. You'd need to take the village (need Lawspeaking skill if memory serves) with the current lawspeaker missing or destroy the village totem.

You'd still potentially be subject to being revoked since the personal claim would be newer than the village claim, so even if you could drop the claim there, I'd advise against it until you had control of the village or know the village owner(s).

The village claim is behind some walls that I don't have access to quite yet, else I might try that.

I was willing to take the risk of placing a claim beneath the village even though it could be revoked later; It seems pretty abandoned. The thought was to use the open area as a sort of 'staging ground' to move into the rest of the village after I got myself started.
