Combat melee or ranged?

Hi all I used to play a lot of legacy HNH and I am just getting back into it and a lot has changed. I've been scrolling through the wiki and forums trying to find information. I've read conflicting results about the following questions so I figured Id ask them directly.
1.Is the Ranger bow in new HNH?
2. Is archery(with UA for when they rush you) pretty effective or still better to go sword and shield or just B12 it up(with a little archery to poke perhaps)?
3. Also looking on the wiki and forums its hard to tell what weapons are actually in the game right now?

Archery is terrible. Level UA and use B12.

Yeah never go with archery it will fuck up your hunting immensely (animal capped by quality ammunition you used for kill) and against people it's a joke as well.

Have they mentioned anything about fixing the issues with archery or are they still letting it be subpar as it always has been really.

Archery is shit world 10, if you want to hit hard go with b12 and ua, if you want to be tanky go with shield and sword/ shield stance

but it also increases your cooldowns on atks by 20%
