When should I fight ?

It's probably more time efficient for you to make a weapon, trade for one, or find one on an abandoned claim.

If you don't want to wait, then you could always try to kung-fu a bat and just leave the cave if it is too much for you.

for boar, id say 50-75 (str, agil,con,UA/MC) but maybe less because you can kite them so easily.

ants - just don't fight them, it's pointless and painful

If you are willing to take some beating (wouldn't be without a scratch, but it's definitely possible.):

bats ~ 20
foxes/badgers ~ 30
boars ~ 40

And then again, you can cheese them quite easily. Zebratul had a combat guide this world which I think is more or less relevant. An exempt from the thread:

Add at least 50% more to every animal ....otherwise armorless and weaponless you will take huge damage, and even with some basic armor..

You need armor bro

Put on some leather shit and a stone axe or buy a cheap sword and cutthroat cuirass at the community fair and it won't take a lot of stats to kill most animals
