Question about realms

Do you have to be a particular distance from the borders of another realm to start your own? There's a realm annoyingly close to where I've decided to settle, and it's so large that it's impossible to get very far from it.

Yes, there needs to be a minimum distance. However, it's not hard enforced like personal and village claims. If you try to build another realm too close or on top of another realm, you create a zone of conflict. I don't remember exact details, so I'll have to point you to patch notes or the wiki.

Oh, and should note that I'm sure the realm isn't that big. Nobodies is. There's not enough players in the game to build a realm that large and keep it up.

i've seen multiple realms stack, whats the pros and cons to this? why wouldnt you want double the relm? that would mean more stats increases right?

If I recall correctly, points are split evenly in the overlapping areas, and you'd have to destroy the border cairns to actually expand over the existing realm.
