How do I get thatching material?

I'm trying to build a Timber house I think, but I can't figure out how to make thatching material. I can't find anything on how to make it through any wikis either....

You can use tree boughs, straw, or tar sticks for thatching material.

We have a wiki, http://www.ringofbrodgar.com/, but it is player ran, and is down likely through the weekend. You can use Google to find cached pages if you search for specific things from the game and use the "cached" page.
