Level 2 mine

Just making sure, if I find a vein below me, should I build the minehole directly on top or can I make one to the side and mine towards it?

Just wanna be sure it doesn't teleport me to a different location.

You can build it to the side and mine towards it, to avoid destroying ore near the ladder.
