Lure fishing questions

Namely: How do I increase my chance of success? Is it purely based on the lure I'm using? How does the quality of my rod affect things? Do people actually know?

Also: How do survival/will affect things? To get more options is it something like exploration where it's a value of survival * will?

If anyone knows I'd be very grateful for answers, I'm a bit confused how all this works.

Chance is mostly location based AFAIK. Just one tile over can have like 5% better chance.

quality of rod+line+hook+lure increase chance
higher will shows you more options
