If you have a horse you can outrun them on 3rd speed or if you have a friend and horses your friend can agro other walrusses and juke them while you attack the first one

Have a palisade nearby, aggro them, go inside and close the gate infront of their noses.

They can't hit you through the gate but you can hit them? Do you have to use a bow for that to work?

oh they most certainly can hit you, and you them.

But you can retreat outside their range and cover your openings, while they stare at the gate...

What do you do when they try to run away?

The more legit approach is to make the whole group run, after the last took off hop on a horse and finish them off one by one. The cheesy approach is to have an alt that closed the other gate behind them (so they can't get away) and you watch them bleed out and die.
