Do trolls ever despawn?

Do trolls ever despawn or do they stay there permanently until killed?

They stay permanently until you call a trollbuster for help.

I know of at least two different trolls that I need a trollbuster to kill then, one is the eye one, and the other I think is a brain one, I'm not to sure as I didn't get a good look at the other one.

Trolls are valuable, negotiate with the troll buster to keep one or two bones, or even better a saw made from the bones. If it's a high enough quality troll, that is.
