technical support needed

Postby HIgh_Queen_Kim » Fri Oct 13, 2017 4:43 pm

I have the original client. I play for ?30 minutes or so. My computer instantly shuts down.
This has NEVER happened before. I build computers (for 20 years now). It ONLY happens while I'm playing this game. It's happened three times in the past two days. I'm worried that the client has major safety flaws.... I'd like to discuss this with someone from 'the company' to see what I need to record/monitor to get more details. (like through Charles) Please advise.
Detail files are available upon request.
While I'm actually playing the game in the original client my entire computer suddenly, without any warning, powers off. The tv/monitor is still on. No BSOD, no timer to shut down, no indication whatsoever that it's about to happen. I've monitored my resources while playing. I've recorded my session data and searched the files for indications of error.... I can't figure this one out.
thanks

Go to the Event log and under Windows logs > System look for any suspicious messages right after restart.
If nothing of interest there, then find some soft for logging CPU/GPU temperatures and check for anything abnormal.
If nothing there either, run some soft for stress testing the hardware specifically the CPU+GPU (might be a power supply issue which is not manifested under normal load).

Had this happen before, cleaning the dust out of the GPU cooler solved it.

definitely not a temperature problem: computer easily, quickly, quietly and efficiently restarts like normal immediately after each shut down.

I am looking into the stress test soft. Thanks for the suggestion.

I had that with older systems where the power supply capacitors on the Mainboard or in the PSU failed.
As you said you build computers yourself I suggest you attach a new PSU, in case the problem goes away for some months it is the board, in case it goes away completely it was the PSU, in case it's still there... good luck.
