Death is gone??

Postby Tamalak » Mon Nov 06, 2017 4:49 pm

I've been away for months. I see vague references to how the death penalty has been removed?? Can someone link me to an up to date page (there are so many wikis and they are a mess) on how death now works?

death isnt gone, it is still there. just harder to actually kill someone with full hhp than it use to be. before if you got KOed it was pretty much over. now if you get KOed your opponent cant attack you for some time and you have a chance to tp back to hf but your body can still be looted before you tp.

1) there's one Wiki
2) it's not a mess

http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Glossary#Death

That's the most up to date information on death.

What it is missing however is the new knockout mechanic. If you're knocked out you can either log out or TP to your hearthfire. This makes gank murders harder, but not impossible

How does one gank if I can instantly vanish once I'm knocked out? Or is it not instant?

Also, people seem to claim that it's worth it to kill yourself once completing a credo. That's because, I guess, you get 45% of what you had plus the flat bonus to the credo which is often more than 100% of what you had. But don't ALL your other attributes and skills suffer in the process of suicide if you lose 55% of everything? How can that be worth it?

1) you lay on the ground for a good 30 secs.
2) then you hear a chime and it says you can tp to hf or log out
3) about 15 secs later your guy gets up like normal if you dont tp to hf or log out

between 1) and 2) you cant be attacked anymore

they do this to keep the credoes they already gained when they reiherit. if you dont commit suicide you have to do 10 quests for every credoe you complete

So there's no time when you can be attacked but not teleport. Seems pretty impossible to be killed unless they kill you in a millisecond after the 30 seconds end.

only way a player can kill another play that i have seen is if there are like 4 ppl beating on one person and they all attack the person on the final blow at the same time. other than that if you get KOed. also good to note that its not wise to go out and fight with less than half hhp bc you will more than likley die. depends on how much grevious damage you take too.

If you are at full hhp, you more than likely won't die in a fight. Now if the fight goes on for a long time, and you take a lot of hhp damage, then you could die. Basically if their wounds + the concussion would get rid of all your hhp, you die.

The wiki was definitely a mess about a year ago. But it's improved vastly since then, kudos to the wiki types catching up on the hafen changes. Never been my cup of tea to participate in, but appreciation where it's due for all that hard work.

Cleaves do a maximum of 60% of your MHP as HHP damage. Therefore, if you know how high your opponent's MHP is and calculate your damage, you can do a cleave that doesn't ko them but takes away ~60% of their HHP, then do a second cleave for the rest of their HHP to kill them. Plus there's concussion damage in case you don't do enough. Though if the person has really low SHP, this doesn't really work.

If the fighters know what they're doing, they can get kills fairly consistently.
