How do gildings and recycling work?

Postby mlg_no-Scoper » Sun Nov 12, 2017 4:17 am

After having played this game for over half a year, and having spent countless hours playing, I still cannot fully grasp how gildings work. First of all, I do not understand the different symbols and the x%-y% followed by icons representing stats in clothing and gildings. Another problem is recycling. I have believed that recycling clothing turned 2 similar items with similar gildings, and had a chance to produce 1 item with the same gilding and an extra slot, or destroy one item and not give the extra slot. I have been spending countless hours reading and re-reading the wiki and browsing all kinds of forum posts and still have not found an answer. I really hope the countless amounts of leather and animal hides I have been spending on recycling items doesn't go to waste.

gotta think on a large scale imo

make a cupboard full of clothes of one type like straw hat then another cupboard of gildings like feather trinket. now you apply one feather trinket to each straw hat. sort the hats into the two cupboards as one with no extra gilding slot and other without the extra gilding slot. 'recycle' all straw hats with each other and repeat the feather trinkets on the straw hats until all the straw hats have both a gilding slot and a feather trinket. you will lose some straw hats/feather trinkets in the process

now make a cupboard of equal parts straw hats to cornbraids. apply all cornbraids to the straw hats. separate and combine the straw hats without the gilding slot. now you can add heartwood leaves but if you're unlucky or aren't rich, apply what you want to it

recycle re-rolls every gilding onto the clothing, in this situation, a straw hat. so a feather trinket has 50%-100%, that means at least 50% of the clothing, at most it will be 100% of the clothing. the straw hat 10%-25% so again, atleast 10% and at most: 25%. so its 5%-25% depending on your stats and if the attributes of clothing to gilding match, which they do

when you recycle you re-roll the gildings on the equipment but only one piece of equipment survives. the quality is averaged
recycling rolls every gilding on the equipment per gilding. it rolls for the gilding to stay, gilding to disappear, gilding to drop into inventory, and then if the equipment has a slot

afaik this is how it works. the sewing credo helps as you automatically pass the first gilding. i quit about 3months ago and unsure how sewing credo affects stuff with two slots for gilding innately. the % is low so i recommend mass producing

Tailor credo also doubles the chance to keep a gilding when recycling.

I added a bit more information to the wiki on this that hopefully makes it clearer: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Equipment ... _Attribute

And the symbols on the items relate to your stats, both attributes and skills.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

OH! Now I understand. I used to think that recycling would give the extra slot.
