Abilities and attributes as a beginner

Postby Nektaris » Tue Dec 26, 2017 2:08 pm

I started playing few days ago and I'd like to follow the path of a miner. What attributes and abilities should I raise first?

Masonry for mining quality

strength for striking the stone with enough force to break the rock. Some rocks and areas are harder then others.

Might want to put some into fighting skills and smithing too while ur at it.

Unless you're playing with a group, playing as a pure miner might be difficult. Also, usually if you play as a miner you'll also be a smith.

Just for mining, though, you'll want strength and masonry. If you starting metalworking you'll need smithing.

Do you think Mining is too advanced for a beginner playing solo?
What should I focus on instead? Hunting? Fishing?
I have Exp, Survival and UA at 10.

Build a palisade for protection and farm some crops. Mining requires a lot of food.
Be careful when mining, as mines are full of aggressive creatures. Also if you mine into a wrong tile without support, rocks fall on your head and you actually die from them.

I also wanted to mine when I began playing HnH in w5. Sadly, I thought that boulders only knock you out, after getting few of them to my head. I died. I thought the same thing about ants as well.

Can't feed yourself with mining, and you're not going to develop as a miner without serious focus on foraging, hunting, and farming. The only way you can focus purely on mining is with a village or other group. Trading is an option, but there's not much value in low quality metals and stone.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

If your interested in focusing on mining and if you happen to be interested in joining a village we could use a dedicated miner here and we can help get your stats up a bit as well :)

Joining a village is a good idea if you only want to mine indeed, because then the others can get food for you and you can only mine.
