Badger inside my fence

I finished building a palisade and logged off for a couple of hours. When I came back I was planning on expanding my claim so it takes up all of the palisade, but then I saw a badger on the minimap. It was inside of my palisade. What should I do now? Wait for it to despawn, if that's even possible? Please help!

aggro it then run outside your wall, run back in and close it out.

It will despawn after about 20 minutes after all active players leave the area. That doesn't mean something else won't spawn the next time you log in. (I've logged in to a bear at my front door before.)

I've had a mammoth spawn inside mine... planting grass over original biome tiles limits some of the more dangerous wild animals, and paving/crops eliminates all.

I believe the rule is that animals won't spawn on personal claims, but will on other claim types (village, realm). I'm not aware of this changing any time recently. Claims don't prevent herbs from spawning, so you might want to rethink paving or terraforming the land.
