Just note that you will likely get visitors come a knockin' if you do so. If you need vandalism to destroy the markers, then the posts are still on an active claim.

A good suggestion is to make sure the roads aren't used, and if they are, offer to move them around where you plan on settling. The best suggestion is to not settle on top of road markers.

I guess I don't need to flatten that spot I paved with basalt. I just wanted everything to be flat in claim.

I can almost guarantee they weren't NK, but there is a possibility they were. That's a part of the game, though... players are anonymous so there's no way to be sure who is who unless you can track criminal scents down to where they originate from, and even then that's no guarantee of character X belonging to player Y. Names aren't globally unique like in most other MMOs; they're unique to the account only. Add to that you can set a display name to obfuscate things further. (Display names also help friends by knowing you're still the same person even though this might be your tenth character with a different name.)

But yeah, stream sniping has been an issue. Someone always looking to be Internet Famous and get their 15s of fame... cause you know, it's the Internet.
