Minehole Soak?

Postby abt79 » Sat Feb 10, 2018 6:54 pm

As a miner I considered my strength and pickaxe pretty high (in the hundreds) but apparently this is not so.

When attempting to destroy a minehole in an abandoned camp which connected to my personal mine, i was told I was ‘too weak to damage it.’

Any ideas for soak value? Wiki sure doesn’t know.
Basically dont want to waste materials/quills on a good sledgey only to find out that still isnt enough

Following the formula on the wiki (soak + 1 - tool)^2 = req str
whereas tool = axe - 1, pickaxe -2, sledge - 4, ram - 20

if you assume soak is 20, then you will need at least 360 str with a pickaxe (20 + 1 - 2)^2
if you assume soak is 25, then you need at least 576 str.

As far as I can tell, tool quality has no effect on the formula. someone please correct me if i'm wrong so I can update the wiki

I know all this, what i want to know is what the soak value of a minehole is

Also probably will try a wrecking ball

Well, that's the problem. It's accurate as far as we know, but take in account what ricky posted here, and you haven't shared your information with us as to what the damage you're doing is. I'm not saying you have to do this, but without knowing your stats, we can't compare it to what we think we know and formulate any opinions on the correctness of the currently known information.
