So, any good places for a hermitage nowadays?

Postby ArgentRhapsody » Sat Mar 10, 2018 4:58 am

I took a hiatus and came back to my last one completely gone, thankfully I didn't invest much time or effort into it, so I'm wondering if there's any good places in the world to settle without getting my stuff smashed again?

How long was your hiatus? Your claim likely ran out of presence, meaning anyone could smash in. When you make a new claim and put up a palisade, it's rare anyone will bother you.

Fire & Ice is a good realm to settle in though, I've had pleasant past experiences with them.

I'm not expert, but following may help.

1. Don't settle too close to other people or near big villages, they may not like unknown neighbors (I personally wouldn't mind too much but could worry that some newbie clearcuts my hunting ground.)
2. Settle near, but not right next to river or lake that connects to larger waterways. Boat is no longer only way to travel like in Legacy (excluding fast travel) but Rowboat is cheap and relatively safe means of transport, especially if you donät have horses yet. Build one-way trail from your base to the shore.
3. If possible, pick area where multiple different biomes are nearby. This will help with foraging, required for numerous essential things and quests.
