A question about opium

I had 8 points of Punch-sore and I smoked 0.07 kg of opium. Afterwards I still had 1 Punch-sore but I also have a Dragon Bite.

I thought you only got dragon bite if opium use exceeded healing? Does Dragon Bite wear off eventually?

Not really. While the opium smoking buff is active, there is a number in the corner which can be applied to certain wounds. It randomly applies them over time (say, the number goes from 5 to 3 and your concussion is reduced by 2). If your smoking buff runs out while there is still a nonzero number, then you get a dragon's bite for that number.

I tend to smoke just enough to fill the bar, then let it tick down to 20-30% and then smoke some more. I try to make sure the wound number stays low so that I will end up with only a minimal dragon's bite.

Dragon's bite wears off over time, but it is fairly slow. Try sleeping in a quality bed to speed it up some.
