Install Java. Preferably the 64 bit version from here.

After installing Java your browser should know what to do with a .jnlp file.

Else teach your windows to always open it with javaw.exe (that you can find where Java is installed).

I don't recall off the top of my head with out digging explicitly on how Java is configured by default, but if memory serves, running Java apps in the browser is disabled. This needs to be turned on. Find the Java settings (Windows: Control Panel->Java), and it's under the "Security" tab.

I am having the same trouble, I dont even have a javaw.exe file apparently after installing from the link you gave, is there anything else you can think of? My buddy can't figure it out either and the dudes pretty learned with technology.

Simply search your system for "javaws.exe." If Java is installed, it will be found. You can find it in the folder you installed java to in the "/bin" subfolder.

Java (on Windows) gets installed in

C:\Program Files\Java

(32 Bit Java on 32 Bit Windows or 64 Bit Java on 64 Bit Windows)

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java

(32 Bit Java on 64 Bit Windows (not recommended))

whereisjava.bat
Code: Select all
dir /s java.exe
pause
