Beaver lodges, how do they work?

Postby Ants » Tue Apr 10, 2018 12:54 am

Could someone explain how to get through a beaver lodge? I've only been in there once a few months ago and since my specialty isn't fighting, I'm nervous about doing more investigating by myself.

Here's what I understand:
1.Rooms get unlocked once you've killed all the beavers in the previous room
2.Albino beavers are more vicious than their brown friends
3.Coracles are useful if you're not confident in your swimming skills since parts of certain rooms are flooded
4.Blocks of beaver salvage can be chopped up for pretty building materials and beaver chests contain unique loot like heart containers
5.The king's room spawns infinite beavers, so it's best to kill the king as fast as possible unless you're just trying to harvest high q bones

I vaguely remember something about storm of swords being a useful move and an earthquake happening after you've killed the king. And don't you get a bonus against beavers if you bring a lot of people to fight with you, even if they're weak? Correct me if I've gotten anything wrong and please post about anything I've missed.

Mostly right I guess, I did a good amount of these and this is what I know:

1. Logs contain beaver salvage which is a pretty wood.
2. When opening a door to a new room, existing beavers if in range and sight of new room will aggro you.
3. Beavers aggro you from inside a room if you are within range.
4. There are small beavers which are easy to kill, bigger brown beavers which are kind of easy to kill, then there are white beavers which are much harder to kill and open much more and use ip moves.
5. Yes some rooms are flooded so bringing a coracle but if you can’t swim yet, wouldn’t suggest doing the dungeon to begin with.
6. Chests contain a random assortment of loot which can randomly contain gems, curious, wild dreams, gildings, bone needles, and very rarely heart crystals.
7. There is usually a main branch of rooms to follow and side branches. In most side branches there is a chest room at the end with no beavers and a loot chest with generally good loot.
8. There is always 1 king at the end and in this room beavers continuously spawn even after the king is dead.
9. Killing king spawns a heart crystal bear exit, so pick this up... sometimes if the exit is near a wall it will spawn in an adjacent room.
10. Beaver den starts to shake but you can still go back through den to collect other missed loot.
11. There seems to be different types of room objectives, kill all beavers in room, kill x many beavers, or make sure certain amount of beavers are dead at one time before more spawn.
12. Beaver dens have random difficulties, so some can be insanely hard, ie we found a den where it had a room of 20+ white beavers and we had to complete the third objective listed above. Was impossible almost.
13. There seems to be x many beaver dens in the world and only new dens spawn of another one has been defeated.
