river mussels

i have the water in the clay cauldron boiling, i tried to put in mussels but they wont go in. i tried to put in morels to see if it was just that the water still needed time to boil but the water looked like it was boiling in the cauldron and the morels went right in, i also made sure the water level was full just in case that was the issue. do i have to have a metal cauldron to boil mussels or does the cly cauldron not hold a liter of water?

No, you just need them in your inventory, open the craft menu, food, and then in seafood you will have the option to boil the mussel ... you have to have picked them yourself to open up the recipe, so will need the fishing skill if you haven't.
