Walls and Palisades

Postby Barbamaus » Fri May 11, 2018 11:03 pm

I have a doubt: if I build a brick wall just inside a palisade, without gaps, what happens when someone tries to demolish the palisade? Does the damage spread to the wall too?

And what if instead of a brick wall, I build another palisade inside, again without leaving a gap between the two? Would the inner palisade take damage if someone rams the outer one by the gates (where the corner posts for each gate would touch each other), even if those corners were individually made?

Damage only spreads through wall sections connected to each other. It'll spread along the palisade, but not into the brick wall. If you have two palisades and they are not connected anywhere, damage won't spread.

A lot of people leave the palisade to protect the brick wall while it is being built, if that's what you're planning.

Catapults are the preferred method for making holes in walls in sieges, so if the walls are close enough together, all walls in the hit area are going to take damage, anyway, and there is a possibility of both walls breaking at the same time. During regular periods, wrecking balls are used; or if people think the wrecking ball won't or can't get destroyed.

I'll note that this is my understanding of the mechanic. The devs don't share much on this with us, so specifics sometimes don't get shared when they're discovered, and I'm going on what I've last read on the forums.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have a palisade up, and I was planning for a wall, that's why I was concerned. What I do not understand yet is: do two independent corner posts count as connected if one next to another? Since you can't "extend" a corner post into another corner post directly, I believe it shouldn't. But the proximity might play into it. Any clue?

No, unless you can see the connection, they're not counted as connected.
