Farming skill question

I was reading about it on the wiki, and I have a hard time understanding how much the Farming skill comes into play.

Let's say I have 50 points of farming. I plant crops of Q10, Q50 and Q100. How much does my skill influence the "random -5|+5"?

I've seen around crops Q650, and I have no clue if I should plant them or just keep them there forever (since I'll never get at that much skill in farming...).

you have -2 +5 chance of decrease/increase everytime you plant (not harvest) softcaped by your farming , meaning if you have less farming than the q of the seed your chance are now -2 0
in your exemple : if you plant q 10 your crop can be -8 , -9 , ... , 15
q100 -98,-99 , 100 , 100 , 100 , 100 , 100 , 100

Plant your seeds yes but don't plant them all at the same time , if you manage it well you could have infinite 640-650 seeds even with terrible luck.
