How to siege

Postby Gugudugu » Thu May 17, 2018 7:54 pm

There's this particular abandoned place with a personally claimed palisade that seems to have some valuables (maybe).
Thing is, I've never even attempted to use a wrecking ball before, so I'm not sure how to correctly destroy the claim shield so I can take down the walls (wall is about to fall thanks to decay, but I still want to learn how to do it). So, being a lone player with low strength, should I use a catapult? I have access to some brimstone sources.

Simply set up the wrecking ball and wait for it to be ready. Knock a hole (or half the wall down as the case may be) and loot away.

Notes: Make sure to turn the wrecking ball 180 as the default placement is backwards. After setting it, you can test it to see if it works. If you get the options to destroy, great. Wait and come back later to break. (You'll get an error message if you click the "destroy" button saying it's not ready.) If not, disassemble it, place it again, and retry.

Only active claims generate/have shields. Claims that have gone inactive lose their shield. Maybe that will be helpful. And walls don't decay unless the claim is (or has been) inactive.

I see. Thing is it's taking too long to destroy the shield using the wrecking ball, so I built a catapult. Now I just have to figure out how it works. Thanks for your reply!

Shield damage is the same no matter the weapon used. Catapults require brimstone to keep them running, but can be used immediately. The wrecking ball is relatively cheap, but can't be used for 24 hours. If you already have a wrecking ball in place and working, I'd say stick with it.

When you start doing damage with a siege weapon, your damage scales down to a maximum cap. It refreshes every hour. Just use the wrecking ball until the damage is too low to feel like continuing, then wait an hour until after you started bashing, repeat.

In reality it does not refresh every hour. But it slowly increases, reaching the maximum in 1 hour. Continuously increasing it is, yes.

No, that is wrong.
