Access old art version and some other stuff

Hello all!
I am very new here and I have searched the forum for my questions, but I cannot find the answers.
1. I paid the $15 to be able to access the old version.. so how do I do that?
2. Why is the game so dark? Are there some settings I'm missing?
3. Are there any mods you can suggest?
If you can answer even one of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it!

To access legacy, you should check out the legacy thread in the Announcements section: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=40052

As far as the darkness and such, no, there's no basic way of changing that. For the new version, you can go into the options and turn lighting off or on, but that's all. Modded clients may be able to do more. As such, yes there are mods, and what you want depends on what version of the game you're playing.

Mods for the new version can be found in The Wizards' Tower. For legacy, there are a couple of clients from then that have had the new server information added in, but I don't keep links handy. If you do some searches, there are some graphics and sprite mods in the archives for legacy clients that may still work. I haven't tested any personally.

Kaizo did a fixed version of Union client for legacy (that's how the "old art" version is called officially)

the DL url is working

the custom clients have a switch to "turn the lights on" even at night without the need for torches or fire

If you're going to use Union and got questions post them in that thread only

There where different custom clients before : Ender, Anemone, Xcoms ... - but they weren't fixed or the DL urls for fixed are dead
