Mac amber issues

Postby tatormator » Mon Jun 25, 2018 10:16 pm

I have been able to get my friend to play haven and hearth on mac no issues now im trying to figure out how to make amber work. It has been cofusing me so much and i have not found any good answers. I see the To run on Mac OS X double click run.command (make it executable first). I have no flipping clue and neither does my friend how to make it executable and it doesnt even mention it just says unable to access after he tries running run.command i can send screen shots or anything i just have no clue what im doing.

JinxDevona nicely posted a solution how she got Ender running on mac - prolly it helps with Amber as well:

now think about what would happen when everyone thinks the same - the forums be a total mess ;) ... old rule says : first look for threads with a similiar problem that could give hints for solving, second: try to help keeping a bit order in forums - the proper thread asking for technical help with custom clients would be WT custom clients thread as HowDoI is mainly for game aspects - remember the Moderators are players too - help them not to have to hazzle with forums too much - yw :)

Not really the forum for this, but shubla isn't mocking. It's his view, and his form of back-seat moderating. Otherwise, this is a very helpful community (even if sometimes more on the trollish side of the internet), and most threads get a reply back fast if it's a generally well known answer, and nearly all threads get a helpful reply back within a day. (it's not a very large community.) Every once in a while a problem comes up that stumps us and it takes a few days of digging elsewhere or some thought to come up with a solution. Sometimes the poster isn't patient enough and gives up and the problem is left unresolved.

We have one moderator active here, and one dev (jorb) that takes his time with the forums. I'm not saying loftar doesn't, but he doesn't do the "customer" part of game development much unless it deals with the code and mechanics. In the future, failure to follow the requests (the rules) may lead to moderation, which can be thread merging and such, and it can leave the poster confused about what happened to their thread. (I'm known to deliberately not tell the person their thread got moved elsewhere if I think they're being a troll or deliberately ignoring the rules.)

And if people want to discuss Mac vs MS vs Linux, we have another forum for this.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Sadly I wasn't able to figure out Amber either, but Ender works great with the fix.

(BTW, all these years and I still have to point out that I am a she...lol)
