How do I enlarge my map?

I am using the vanilla client. When I brought up my map it covered three quarters of my screen but that was good, because I could see the surrounding territory and avoid going down dead end peninsulas when traveling. Two days ago my map shrank to less than one quarter of my playing screen, and since the controls are now half of that, my map is not much more than twice the size of my mini-map.

I assume I hit the wrong buttons, or dragged or something inadvertently. How do I get the full sized map back?
