reclaiming land

Postby keroba » Sat Jun 30, 2018 8:48 pm

I have been playing since about May, 2018. only once have I run across land I had seen before (at least that I recognized). My last guy was doing great but died last night and I began a new player. To my total amazement I found my claim from that guy with the new player. Question is; How long until the claim expires? The hearth fire is gone, the red border still appears saying the property is owned by someone, and I get knocked down a point in my health bar each time I cross the property border. I can only open things I just brought outside the property. I am setting up a makeshift camp along the border for now. Just wondering when I might get access. Also can I right click the corpse to gain the previous guys knowledge???

Build a wilderness beacon nearby, light it and set a password, spawn a new character (with the account containing the dead one) and, in the creation room, name your new character at the wizard, go into the fenced area and RMB a grave to inherit from the corresponding character (choose the one owning the claim), RMB the skull to enter the password you set on the beacon, then burn in the fire. This will spawn you at the beacon as the owner of the claim.

In case the old hearthfire still exists as an unlit fire you should be able to skip the part with the beacon (and the skull in the creation room) as you should spawn on the old fire (turning it into a hearth fire). Note that I have not tested the last sentence in a long time, thus YMMV.

Waiting for the claim to expire can take longer than a RL month, depending on the presence the claim had when your last character died.
