Can I remove locks from gates?

I know how to change locks to new keys, but that's not what I want to do here. I want to completely change the gate configuration of the village to which I have recently been appointed LS and I want to do away with the locks on the existing gates. Is there a way to do this without demolishing and rebuilding the gates?

Not possible to remove a lock, you can only replace it.

But as gates without locks open from both sides anyway: why not simply leave them open?

My plan is to create a 2nd gate outside our pali walls to activate the visitor buff and have the inner gate with no lock so every villager can open and close the inner gate without having to be given a key that could get lost or stolen

1) A villager expressed concerns about wild animals being "trained" and being able to demolish a roundpole gate. 2) We have that on a few gates now but the roundpole structures impede traffic

I'll just demolish the existing gates once the new gates are erected and rebuild from there.

If you leave a gate without a lock, there's a risk that somebody will install a lock of their own to it.

On a claim this is only possible for chracters with vandalism permision, dosn't it?

But it certainly is a reason to use roundpole for the lock-less gate, as it can be broken quickly in a spy vs. spy situation.
