Slaughteing Softcaping?

Postby Dondorion » Wed Jul 18, 2018 10:51 pm

I slaughtered a horse over 70q and over 100% hide and meat, but I got his hide and stuff around quality 50. My first thought was that my farming where softcaping the animal goods, because I have 20+20 farming points when I get cooking cloths, which I wear when Im slaughtering.
I have base survival 151, butcher cleaver 191q, base farming 20. As farming credo asks to slaughter animals, it made sense that my farming (40) were softcaping the good I get from slaughtered animals.
But this time, look:

A Ram 43q, 104% meat and 101% Hide gave me a 38,3q fresh hide and 39,0q entrails and so... If my farming were softcaping it or hardcaping, shouldn't I get at least 40q stuff? Why did I get 38,3q hide instead of 43,4 (101% of 43)? What am I missing?

Are You sure those butchered animals weren't starving a bit or something?

they're always like this

Satiation is never full, but the welfedness is. I always keep 3-5 milking females. I'll rise my farming and see how it goes

Farming is meant to be the softcap for butchering tamed animals (not surv btw). but it does seem very odd indeed.

RobWiki wrote: The quality of Raw Beef while butchering is determined by quality of animal corpse and softcapped by your survival and sharp tool quality.

If (ToolQ < MeatQ) then M e a t Q = ( M e a t Q + T o o l Q ) / 2 {\displaystyle MeatQ=(MeatQ+ToolQ)/2} {\displaystyle MeatQ=(MeatQ+ToolQ)/2}

If (Survival < MeatQ) then M e a t Q = ( M e a t Q + S u r v i v a l ) / 2 {\displaystyle MeatQ=(MeatQ+Survival)/2} {\displaystyle MeatQ=(MeatQ+Survival)/2}

Tool quality softcap is applied before the survival softcap.

The quality of Raw Mutton while butchering is determined by quality of animal corpse and softcaped by your farming and sharp tool quality.

There are only a couple possibilities as to why this MIGHT be off from what I can think of (what hasn't been shown or stated):

You didn't have full stat values--missing gear, wounds, etc.

you were missing the correct equipment--wrong sharp tool, too many sharp tools to pick from and server couldn't disambiguate properly.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Could his travel weariness have been affecting it? Look at his TW in that screenshot.

Isn't it just the quality of the food they're being fed?
