How do I gild a druid's ring?

I have a q130 druid's ring with a 0 for number of gildings. It says "gildable" in blue when I mouse over it. I have a q103 woodsman's token, a q75 fine feather brooch and a q163 twig of spruce. All four are in my inventory. I have tried right and left clicking the items on the ring and the ring on the items. I have also tried to do this while wearing the ring. What am I doing wrong?


Theory: rings can only be gilded with gemstones?

If that is the case what about the Mask of the Green Man? Can it be gilded with my gilding items?

Right, so no, I can't gild the mask of the green man with my lore items either.

I was under the impression that if you wanted to make a level two artifact you needed to start with equipment that gives the ability you are trying for, and gild it with two items of that ability. So I was trying to gild equipment that gives a lore bonus with items that give a lore bonus - but the lore equipment listed in the wiki does not accept the lore items at all.

Have I misunderstood? Is there anything I could gild with a lore item and have a decent chance of gilding it with another lore item?

The spruce cap is also lore equipment - that's what I needed. The wiki didn't mention it.

Had to make over a half dozen spruce caps and many twigs of spruce and keep recycling them before I could get one that was capable of turning into a level two artifact, but it worked!

A level 2 artifact doesn't need to be the same bonus or type of gild, FWIW. Just needs to have two gilds, but whatever means necessary.

Matching the affinities for the artifact makes it easier to get more than one gild in it. There's a formula on the RoB wiki for Gilding.

Nettle clothes are easier if you don't have access to a lot of plant fibers for cloth clothes, though spruce caps are easier to gather for. Half dozen isn't too bad.
