seed quality not changing

I have planted a few rounds of flax and barley and the seed quality has never changed, it always seems to be the same quality as what I planed, the only thing i can think of maybe is size, i do field of 10x15 atm (my plan to never run out of string).

Probably, but with only a couple harvests its entirely possible that it could just be RNG.

You need higher farming level than the quality of the seeds, also plant in different batches with a minimum of 5h.
A good way to farm is by having 2 diffrent fields, one for refining and one for quantity farming.

The refining farm are a bunch of smaller fields, anything from 1 tile- 5x5, personally i use 3x3 tiles with paving in between, I use a total of 80 (9x9 fields) for all crop.
Then when ever you enter your field, you harvest anything that reached the desired growing stage, and then you replant the best of your crop, then repeat after 5h.

While the quantity farms are just large fields to produce stuff you can eat and use.
