Questions on Death

Postby linkfanpc » Tue Feb 05, 2019 10:18 pm

Just died for the first time ever in Hafen. Tabbed out of the game for literally a couple seconds, game somehow turned on swimming, swam out into a massive lake, and lagged so i couldn't escape. No biggie, crappy character anyway, but there's a few things i'm unsure of.

1: Is there a faster way of burying a body? I really don't want to have to wait a day before it decays to a skeleton.
2: If i were to inherit now, and bury later, do i still get the extra LP and stats?
3: According to my account my char had well over 150k LP. According to the wiki i get 10% of my spent LP back. When i inherit, i get 4k, obviously far less. Does it only count skills? If so that's pretty pointless.

Thanks.

PS: Jorbo make it more clear i'm swimming, it sounds identical to walking in shallow water. All i wanted were some Waterstriders.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and do i keep my ancestor's kin list? I had a massive amount of people kinned, if it's gone i've lost all contact with most of them, as many were very far away or met by chance.
Total misplay.

Is the indicator that shows up for swimming being toggled on not enough? Also the game didn't do it, you did. Sorry.

Protip: Don't get swimming if you don't need it.

It's not W4, also very kind of you to answer literally 0 questions asked.

@linkfan

1) No.
2) Yes, it's retroactive but it won't increase you past where you were previously, if you catch up and then bury yourself.
3) I think the 10% only applies to skills, as you retain a portion of your stats and abilities. Not actually certain about this one, haven't had to inherit much.
4) Yeah your kin list is gone. :(

Fairly sure the indicator is custom client feature, ;) but yes it was when i died, wasn't right before. Seconds earlier i was trying to catch a waterstrider and it entered deep water and it said swimming is off. I clicked to catch another one and i drowned.

Didn't ask any of that anyway, please help answer my actual questions.

Evidently he got himself killed because he:

1.) Had swimming.
2.) Butterfingered his keyboard.
3.) Didn't pay attention.

You can only consciously stop one of those.

I have done this before trying to type something and realized after the fact I had toggled something on I didn't want to. I always want to hit 'Enter' to get chat window focus instead of ctrl+c. (Which is how you close programs, of course... loftar should know this being a linux guy!)

But they're right. If you're going to razz someone about their screw up, at least try to answer their question here. Thanks. We'd prefer it if you didn't razz anyone in help, as it's here to try to teach new players things (and sometimes vets that haven't experienced something or just plain forgotten it).

Isn't that kinda like going to the store and being murdered, then your death being excused as your fault because you "had to go to the store"?

More like driving a car and getting killed in a car accident. Only in this case swimming isn't mandatory to live a functional life.
