Newbie and wild bee (?) swarm survival?

Postby Jacra » Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:50 am

I have tried outrunning them, but they follow everywhere.
I tried to hear them early enough to not trigger them but that hasn't worked (I have zero sound sometimes with the Ambr client, which doesn't help).
I assume it is bees from the sound they make and the damage they cause ... which is significant and has caused me many faints. I have tried running away as far as possible and then log out quickly which doesn't work, I have still wounds that need a poultice. And they are usually still there when I log back in.
How is a Newbie supposed to handle them? Is there a trick? I haven't found anything in the wikis either and they are a massive pain as they are so frequent, especially with the early quest of "Visit Mithras" that makes you run around so much.

the idea is that you DONT handle them up until later. but if you still are persistent and want to really raid one make multiple alts to lure away bees.
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

I'm not talking beehives or raiding these but these insect clouds that move around all the time and seem to show up especially every time I decide to settle somewhere. Are these bees?

Those are Midges, simply put, "jUsT aVoId tHeM" as Jorb would say.

That is what doesn't work for me. The first time they killed me twice at my spawn point in the world, then a few more times when walking around. And now they keep showing up whenever I start settling somewhere. So there must be a way to keep them at bay? I've nearly drowned twice as swimming seems to be the only thing they won't follow forever?

Use a horse mate, pretty easy to raid hives imo :)

Usually if I book it for a couple screens running they stop following. Are you getting them constantly because you're living too close to a swamp?

No swamp that I'm aware off. That is the dark green texture with the teal water criss crossing isn't it? I've read that newbies should avoid forests at night too because of midgets?

They can spawn forests, too. Swamps are just thick with them, though.

Forests are occasionally annoying. Swamps are torture.
