How do I get things back from shallow water?

So, I recently found a boar spear in the junk thing near water. I used it today to kill an adder that was a serious threat to my life, but the spear fell into shallow water and I can't get it out in any way. Did it just disappear? I've tried fishing there, but only got some random junk. Will it show itself in some time as the junk thing or is it lost forever?

It has been sent into the server's stockpile of other items dropped in the water. It may wash up on the shore as beach trash, or it might get fished up randomly by someone. There is however no limitation on range, this can happen anywhere in the world.

Effectively your spear is gone. It came to you through water trash, and it left to become water trash again. The circle of life.
