Tips for Archery?

Postby Thatguyintheback100 » Fri Feb 15, 2019 11:43 pm

I've been hunting the boat coward's way for a while but when ever i get an animal to the shallows and try to use a bow it won't hit no matter what i do. The arrows always fly over.

I end up having to use a sling for everything and rapid fire stones. Am i doing something wrong or is archery not meant for this kind of play style? I've heard about one shoting animals so i assume it's more of a stand your ground thing.

Archery is meant for that sort of thing, the mechanics really don't support it though so you won't have me suggesting it at all unfortunately.

The usual tip for overshooting is to aim at the tile beneath the animal. Amber client shows the grid with ctrl+g

my tip for MM is not go MM, get UA some basic leather armor even with low wear as its expendable, you waste q10 armor to get q40 leathers, then you waste q40 armor to get q60 leather and so on, while i can't imagine you having arrows quality higher than maybe 30 which means you get fuck all from hunting like that as arrows reduce quality of game

To fully explain what we're hinting at: Each time you hit an animal with a projectile, it soft caps (averages downward if the projectile is lower Q) the creature. Melee combat hard caps (if lower combat than creature Q, sets the creature's quality to your survival). Since you use several projectiles, this means ammo quality = creature quality. Ammo is much harder to get up in quality than survival is in levels.

The soft cap doesn't always work like that but i was well aware of the mechanic.I more so hunt for fun and for meat since im mining.

The reason i know the soft cap is iffy is because i hit a magpie with a q10 rock and i got a q26 magpie. But it could've just been a supremely high q magpie

Did aiming at the tile help? It works for archery targets.

Also that magpie only would have been Q42, that's not unreasonable for a base Q10 item.

No the aiming did not work that was on a boar in shallow water from a dugout. I'll try more.

Protip: You can click shoot and then click on the boors picture in the top right to aim at it
